Born in 1978, Luisa Homem is a director, editor and founding member of the production company Terratreme Filmes, and is currently living and working in Lisbon. She holds a degree in Communication Sciences - Cinema, from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, at Nova University, Lisbon, and University 8, Paris. She participated in the Ateliers Varan documentary direction course, in the Program of Creativity and Artistic Creation run by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, where she directed CARTAS DE CABO RUICO. She directed arthouse films at the FCSH Cinematographic Creation Laboratory, diverse institutional films, and was hired for various other projects, as well as directing the 13-episode television series UM DIA NO MUSEU about Art Museums in Portugal, production of C.R.I.M. for RTP2. She co-directed the documentaries AS CIDADES E AS TROCAS with Pedro Pinho and SÃO TOMÉ: NO TRILHO DOS NATURALISTAS with Tiago Hespanha. Luisa recently directed SUZANNE DAVEAU, a film that follows the life of an adventurous woman who traversed the 20th Century, right up to the present day, guided by a passion for investigative geography. Luisa is currently developing the screenplay for her first feature length film, a project for a new television series and is also directing a short film for The National Archive of Image and Movement (ANIM).
Amongst Luisa's diverse cinematographic collaborations, the most notable are: her participation in writing the screenplay for A FÁBRICA DE NADA (THE NOTHING FACTORY), and her roles as artistic director and collaborator in the editing of the film. Also noteworthy is her participation as camera operator in films such BAB SEBTA, CAMPO, and the television series EU SOU ÁFRICA, and her collaboration in editing films by diverse directors such as João Vladimiro, Inês Sapeta Dias, Leonor Noivo, Filipa Reis, João Miller Guerra, Frederico Lobo, Pedro Pinho, Tiago Hespanha, Leonor Teles, Raquel Marques, Joana Frazão and Ana Eliseu amongst others.
In addition to having participated in and coordinated various training courses such as NOMADLAB / Dockanema in Mozambique from 2012 to 2018, Luisa guided the Laboratory II and the discipline of Stories of Cinema, in the Cinema course / Image in Movement Course run by Ar.Co, having also co-directed the course for 4 years.
